Marketing Veteran Carine Clark Joins Allegiance as President and CEO
SALT LAKE CITY – December 5, 2012 – Allegiance, a provider of VOCi (Voice of Customer Intelligence) technology and services, today announced that Carine Clark has been appointed president and CEO, effective January 2, 2013. Formerly SVP and CMO for Symantec, Clark has twenty five years of experience building successful software companies. Allegiance’s founder and current CEO, Adam Edmunds, will remain actively involved as a member of the board of directors and will lead the company’s expanding partner and business development initiatives.
Recognized for her entrepreneurial approach and no-nonsense style, Clark has an extensive background in developing marketing, operations and product strategies that enhance corporate reputation, increase shareholder value and accelerate growth. As an executive at Symantec, Altiris and Novell, she was responsible for driving top and bottom-line company growth through fiscally accountable and operationally efficient marketing. Her leadership helped establish Altiris as one of the fastest growing technology companies in the world, growing revenues from $62 million to $230 million during a four year period. At Symantec she led the rebranding of the firm globally, built a demand generation operation supporting aggressive revenue growth, and integrated the brands of many key acquisitions including Altiris and VeriSign.
In her new role at Allegiance, Clark will focus on improving operations, advancing marketing and sales strategies and building key industry relationships. Through her previous experience with dozens of acquisitions and new product introductions, Clark has demonstrated expertise in bringing companies and people together with the exceptional ability to quickly promote best practices and to drive integrated teams toward common goals.
“Carine is a strategic leader who is able to quickly size up the market and tackle the most important challenges,” said Eric Schmidt, Google’s executive chairman and former CEO. “With her innovative and creative approach to business, she will no doubt be successful in her new leadership position at Allegiance.”
John W. Thompson, former chairman and CEO of Symantec Corp. and member of the Microsoft board of directors, stated: “Carine is a powerful marketer and will make a strong CEO. She can identify great potential in people, products, and markets before others, and she knows how to create a winning strategy that others will follow.”
“I know what CMOs and the C-suite need, and what keeps them up at night. Allegiance can become a game changer and drive the trend toward customer empowerment with technology that helps companies achieve greater customer experience insight,” said Clark. “I see a massive new market with tremendous upside for Allegiance, and I look forward to building a business that will dominate this new space.”
With every Fortune 100 business looking for ways to capitalize on customer feedback and empower employees to make decisions faster, there is a significant market potential for Voice of Customer (VOC) software. Allegiance’s combination of operational data and VOC data, along with data mining capability, give businesses the ability to make quick decisions and pivot when needed. Allegiance’s marquee clients substantiate this, including JetBlue Airways, VMware and others.
“As a founder of Allegiance, it has been my privilege to lead the company through its early years to become one of the leading providers in our space. I have been working to get Carine on the team for over a year, and I am thrilled to work with her to bring the company to the next level,” said Adam Edmunds, Allegiance founder. “Carine’s operational experience, executive leadership and capabilities in bringing new technologies to global markets make her perfectly suited to lead Allegiance’s accelerated growth strategies for the future.”
Clark received a master’s degree in business administration as well as a bachelor’s degree in organizational communications from Brigham Young University. She has been recognized with numerous awards, including recently being ranked by ExecRank as #47 of all CMO's worldwide in 2012. She's also received the Women Tech Leadership Excellence Award, the 25th Annual TWIN Award, and the Silicon Slopes v100 Award.
